On August 21st the Italian Canadian Club of Milton (ICCM) hosted their annual Milton Family Picnic which is open to all Milton residents. There was a $10 entry fee for adults and $5 for children which included pasta, free games, face painting and bouncy castle for the kids, with Bocce Ball and card games for the adults. There were additional food vendors plus a dunk tank raising money for local charities and a karate demonstration by the Milton Academy of Martial Arts (AMA).

Angelo Posteraro, ICCM President, opened the annual picnic with a warm welcome to community members followed by brief speeches by Mayor Gord Krantz, Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr and Milton MP Lisa Raitt. In addition Milton Town Councillors Cindy Lunau, Arnold Huffman, John Pollard, Mike Cluett, Mike Boughton, Rick Di Lorenzo and Colin Best were in attendance.

This year’s sponsors were Enzo Turco from Milton Car Audio for the pasta meals as well as Rick Di Lorenzo for the bouncy castle and dunk tank.

The dunk tank had a $2 per throw or $5 for 3 throws donation charge that was gathered for Milton Transitional Housing, Milton United Way and Milton District Hospital Foundation. In the dunk tanks were volunteers Arnold Huffman, John Pollard and Rick Di Lorenzo. Mayor Krantz was the first to make a donation where he successfully dunked Councillor Arnold Huffman in his second throw. Councillor Huffman was the only volunteer to come formally attired wearing a suit and hat which made his dunking all the more thrilling. Milton Transitional Housing’s Executive Director Donna Danielli was on hand to assist with collecting the donations.

During the event ICCM Volunteer Staci James with assistance from friends helped organize an impromptu birthday surprise for fellow volunteer BJ Hall at the picnic. Staci and volunteers surprised BJ with a candle lit cupcake and large group rendition of Happy Birthday.

ICCM would like to thank everyone that was involved with their Annual Family Picnic and would like to welcome everyone to come to Milton’s 4th Annual Venetian Masquerade Gala at Granite Ridge Golf Course on October 15, 2016. Tickets are $100 per person and include a formal dinner and dance. Masks, while optional, are recommended. To purchase tickets call 905-878-9129 or email iccm1969@gmail.com
